honda gx160 problems

I posted before about inheriting a vibrating plate with a slightly sick honda gx160 engine. A new more worrisome problem has just reared it's head however.

I tried to start it today and on the third pull the cord went soild, as in it was as if the eingine seized. I took off the recoil starter and turned the engine by hand to check it wasn't seized.

It turns fine for about 320 degress and then near TDC something jams and the engine will not turn on past this point but will happily turn back 320 the other way.

looking in the plug hole there is a small valve shape looking mark on the piston so i took the valve cover off and even whith the valves slacken right off it still happens.

It doesn't feel like its hitting a valve anyway as it's too solid if you know what i mean. Any ideas would be great as i don't really want to take the head etc off if not needed.

Thanks

Have you had any covers off/taken any screws out?.
If so you could have put a long screw back in the wrong place and it's now catching the flywheel or something.
(Don't ask how I would know!).
