Hi. I've got a Honda HRX 476 QX roller mower, a very good machine, but after an hour or so it starts to lose propulsion drive, so I end up having to push it. I suspect it might be the belt slipping (it's worth a try anyway). Does anyone know how to access the belt to replace it?

Its best to drain off the fuel and the engine oil on this one, as inverting the machine is the best way forward.
Then, its blade off followed by the roto stop assembly (centre bolt) and that should reveal the plastic shield that covers the end of the engine crankshaft and the belt pulley.
The part number should be 23161 - VEO - M11 I think but this depends on the machine age. Have all the numbers ready if you phone for a belt!
Curiously enough I've never had the need to replace the belt on this one....its the clutch bearing on the roto stop that doesn't like me.
John :)

Thanks John. I've finally found a video on Youtube with a repairman stripping down a Honda roller mower for spares. It does look a bit of a caper! Interestingly he pointed out an adjustment screw underneath which I might try, but tbh if I get that far I might as well change the belt while I'm there. I was thinking of getting a new mower, but I do like the old Honda.
