My wife's Honda jazz has started making a tin like noise, usually on acceleration has anyone got any idea what this could be?

Can you check for loose exhaust shrouds rattling on the exhaust system?
Very common, especially where the pipe is close to the drivers side floor.
The shrouds are alloy but the securing nuts are steel which equals corrosion and they pop off.

I did notice on the passenger side the guard under the car which seems to be made of a reinforced plastic or fiberglass one of the rivits has popped but it still seems pretty secure.

Yes, there are some plastic splash guards under there, but do check the exhaust shields when you get a moment.
Fab car, the Jazz!

Great car we have had three. So if it is what you say and it's popped how can that be fixed?

If I’m right, these shrouds are held on by a spring nut over a protruding screw. This corrodes the alloy above, and the nuts can be unscrewed and a stainless penny washer popped on and the nut replaced.
Simple if I’m right so fingers crossed!
At the same time, check the shroud over the catalytic converter, right up to the engine.
