Morning folks! Just wondering if anyone has successfully attached and used a circular pruning blade to their Honda 4 stroke brush cutter? I've seen them advertised for 2 stroke cutters, but the Honda has a different shaft size.
Thanks in advance!
Olly

Yes, the UMK can be fitted with a 3 or 4 blade brush cutting head but as far as I know you'll need the genuine Honda accessory.......or one dedicated to this machine.
John :)

I used to have the Honda 35cc strimmer, it was just the standard size of blade 1"/25.4mm

Most blades will be 25.4mm, with a washer if you need 20mm

John may have been referring to the splined flanges that clamp the blade between them ?

Yep, and also the drive shaft is different with Honda. It's rectangular. I'll need an adaptor kit and the wood cutting blade, which Honda don't make.

So are you missing the nut/washer etc? When new it would come with all the bits, including a 3 prong blade

Define wood cutting blade, I use a generic 80 tooth saw blade on mine as well as 2,3,4 and 8 tooth blades
Edit, when you say square shaft do you mean the one inside the main tube or the one that protrudes from the gear head

Hi. Well, basically I'm just looking to use any circular blade that will cut softwood branches up to about 50mm. It's the internal steel shaft that's rectangular in shape. I've got the strimmer head and the hedge cutter, but it looks as if I'll need a nut, a thread protector and the blade. I just can't find one that's definitely compatible with the Honda umk range.

My 80 tooth blade will ping a 50mm branch off without much bother .
Take a picture of the output shaft showing the shape or splines with any bits that fit under the strimmer head then I'll have a look at mine and see if I can identify anything for you, oh! you must have cow horns for saw blade use for maximum control

Thank you! I'll do that tomorrow!

Sorry lostinthelight! Life just took over for a week or so... like it does!
I finally got around to taking some photos. I'd be grateful if you could take a look at them, and maybe offer reassurance that I'm buying the right bits in order to use a saw blade on my old Honda. The head has 6 splines, btw. Thanks in advance!
