My first thread, hopefully many to come. :D

So for a while the CP038 keypad backlight has been flickering- going up and down in brightness and now it's settled to a dimly lit display. The keypad works fine, it's just that the display as it's not lit as before has become a little difficult to read.

My question is-

Can I enter the engineer code into the Galaxy 2-44, remove and replace the keypad with a new one? Would I need to re- program this in to the panel or is it a swap out job? If I need to program this in first then remove the old keypad how would this work? Would there be any 'catch outs' as no keypad means no way to communicate with panel.

My second question is-

Is there a option to not have the keypad backlight turn on all the time, only come on when a key is pressed? Then turn off after a few seconds when the last key was pressed? Does this functionality exist?

Ensure the new keypad rotary address selector is in the same position as the original keypad. If it is, then you can switch devices easily. The black screw connector on the keypads actually pulls from the board (it's on pins). This means that you can unplug the connector and switch keypads without rewiring. There's no control of the backlight on the G2. They're LED based, so quite unusual for them to go faulty.

Hi @GalaxyGuy, Do I need to power down (mains, remove battery) to swap out or can I do this 'live'?

If I do power down will all the previous settings remain?

If you can pull the plug off the old keypad, then you can do with it powered up. The plug is really tight, so you need to hold at each side and prise it off with your fingers. If you do need to power off and remove the battery, the G2 retains its settings apart from time and date which are easy enough to correct.
