honeywell ST699 programmer. URGENT HELP NEEDED.

posting this again to see if anyone has any ideas if changing the prog does not work. Need to sort tomorrow as the OH will go spare if the heating is off over Xmas. Can see me down at B & Q for a couple of heaters. Suggested to her we have a bonfire Xmas day. Bet you can guess what the reply was !!!!!HELP

I am not sure it the programmer.This is the scenario. This afternoon the heating decided to only come on only when the hot water was turned on on the programmer. It would not come on by itself. Thermostat seems ok as it is 'clicking'. The programmer has been playing up for some time losing the timings etc. When I took it off the terminals 6 & 8 are burnt out. I will have to replace but if this is not the cause the only other thing I can think of is the motorised valve.

If you have a small piece of wire then I would suggest trying this.
Remove the programmer, fit a link between L and CH ON, and L and HW OFF
this should send the motorised valve into heating only mode. If it now works then your programmer is duff, if it doesn't then its the MV.
