I have been given a HIVE pack as a gift and I've tried to replace the honeywell receiver unsuccessful. As you can see from the photo there is only 1 (3) core cable currently coming out of the boiler to the honeywell receiver. Live and neutral very straight forward but wired to the same live cable is another bridging wire going into A. B also seems very straight forward too but when I replaced the receiver and used the same configuration i.e N in N, L in L, A in 2 d B in 3 the boiler won't come on. I've tried a couple of different configuration but I'm worried I could damage the boiler so stopped trying. I put the Honeywell receiver back on and worked immediately. The Hive hub and thermostat are also functioning and worked when the receiver was wired, the boiler just wouldn't turn on. If anyone could help I would really appreciate Thanks

You need L to L and N to N as you say

Then a link wire from L to 1
Connect the green/yellow to 3
That will (should) make it work

BUT

The cabling is not correct. It is not permitted to use the green/yellow for anything other than an earth function. This is what happens when plumbers try and mess with things they do not understand.
So, while it may work, you should replace the three core cable for 4-core cable and restore the earth/cpc.

Tylortwocities I really appreciate your reply. I was of the idea that someone decided to cut corners. Only moved in a year ago and found it like this. I'll try it out later and update you Thanks
