Not a 'how to' question but one which intrigues me.

Is there any convention which dictates whether the hot taps (sink & bath etc.) should be fitted on the left or right hand side.

What is the norm. in the UK ?

Hot on the left and cold on the right. I believe it is a british standard but can't remember which one, something to do with uniformity for the blind I believe.

This subject has been discussed at length on various forums and on one I posted the relevant requirements and codes of pratice.

Fred stated the convention Hot left Cold right.

Thanks for the replies.
I thought that there would be a standard.

For some reason whoever plumbed our (rural) property did it the other way round !

My previous property was previously plumbed 'back to front'.

Guess what - it worked properly. Did I change it? Did I hell.

I've lived with it this way for 20+ years without any problems, but I had noticed that most installations were the other way round and wondered if there was a 'right ' way.

Thanks again for your replies.
