Which side should the hot water tap feed pipe connect to a basin tap, left or right.
Would this be the same side for the kitchen sink tap as well?

usualy hot is left on all sinks / basins no matter wher you go. friends houses, public places.

next time you go out have a look

Usually is the case. Got thrown by this at one house I worked at recently. All taps were swapped round, so there I was assuming cold bath tap on the right for a shower (after having removed bath ready for replacing with a new bath) then realised that kitchen and basin had taps swapped. So had to do some jiggery pockery and change my piping to cope with it. Double checked pipes by blowing down what I thought was cold and hearing a noise come out of the cold basin tap! :D
