I just unplugged an electric convection heater that I bought last year. It had been plugged in for about three hours. The plug pins were so hot that I burnt my hand!!! Is it a problem with the appliance or the socket? Any help woud be appreciated. Many thanks!

If the plug pins looked new beforehand, then most likely the socket is worn internally and the connections are oxodised or burnt even, my advice would be to replace the socket. High power heaters can "warm" plugs but not so there anywhere near as hot as you describe!!!!!!!! - Stop using it FIRST of all is my advice then change the socket if the plugs OK.

Thank you, you're probably right and I'll get the socket looked at - the plug is fine.
