I am moving my hot tub from my old house to my new.
It was on a concrete base, and need to make a base of some sort where I am moving to.
The base was made at the old house as part of a bigger job a few years ago, so I don’t know the actual cose of the base alone.
I have been quoted £350 to lay on top of the ground, or £550 to sink the base to ground level. Does this seem a lot? It is 2.5x2.5m and a 4” reinforced with mesh deep.
I have been looking at other ways of making a base. Can I dig down, hardcore and railway sleeper the base (in a box shape, with a centre sleeper for support)?
I can pick them up for £20 each and would need 5. 1 tonne Type 1 MOT £35. And my time…

I would lay 100m type 1 in the excavated area, and then put the sleepers in, and then infill with the rest of the type 1.
The pain is getting rid of the spoil, I can sort that out though.

Any thoughts?

Ok I am going to do it myself, but concrete it….

I need to work out what I need.

I am going to do it 2.5m x 2.5m, and 4” thick concrete, and 50mm type 1.

Whats the best way to work out the volumes?

Cheers guys.
