Hot water but only on certain settings

Hi all,

I work away from home for weeks at a time and when I return I notice that the following happens;

I can only get hot water from my shower if I have the shower head set to a particular setting (the powerful jet one where it comes out of the 4 holes in the middle). If I set it to any other shower head settings, the water comes out cold or barely warm at all. This is without touching the heat settings on either the shower or the boiler.

The same happens with the bath and basin taps - if I have it flowing slowly it's nice and hot but any other setting it's cold.

The kitchen tap is fine.

Usually it sorts itself out in a couple of days but this time it seems to not be doing anything to improve.

The system is a gas central heating system and has worked every time I'm in the flat for any extended period of time.

Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Diaphragm issue.
Or water going thru boiler too fast.
