Hot water going cold

he thought maybe the main flow was set too high??
I've never known that
But then mats night I had a shower in the en-suite and the water took an age to warm up - like it was freezing cold for say 2 minutes. Never used to, I used to just turn it on and get straight in because the wait wasn’t long for it was warm up…
Sounds still like you may have X2 problems but maybe your plumber is struggling?
He’s told me now to use the main bathroom shower only for a couple of days to see if it is the shower that is faulty…
If you can still use the en-suite shower then it doesn't prove much

Update…

My mother in law has been at my house all day and has said: there was no hot water coming out of the main bathroom sink this morning and the kitchen has been cold all day.

My partner got home an hour before me. I told him to use the main bathroom to shower. He did. No hot water so he used the en-suite - it took ages to heat up, when it did it went cold half way through for ages and then warm again. This also happened to me last night hence going to use the main shower instead.

I am home now, tired to use the en-suite shower - no hot water.

I’ve just had a lovely bath though … good flow coming out and staying hot - hot is on full with some cold being mixed in (too hot otherwise)

No other sink is producing hot water….

Something is definitely amiss, what though hard to say. Would probably need to be on site. Just a thought, as I don't think it's been mentioned, has any pipework been changed recently? Wondering if there's a crossover connection somewhere.

No nothing!

Boiler serviced - issues since that. Probs not connected the man didn’t really touch much???

Since that had a new shower bath ran and sink tap fitted in the main bathroom is all. Issues happened before this.

Nobody has touched any pipes!

I just ran the kitchen tap, hot water came out boiler didn’t start… so it must have been the water the bath heated up. This is getting very annoying now!!!

You might politely ask your plumber how he actually isolated that problem shower, if he/you are happy that he did so OK, then time to get a heating engineer in IMO.

We have an airing cupboard in the landing - the wall the other side is the en-suite. He did something in there and then I turned the shower and and tap on on en-suite and no water was running …

Then turned on the kitchen tap and it went to 00 still

He has said that we are going to have to go down the route of changing the hot water flow switch! I can keep you posted so you know what happens, hopefully this is it!!

Just a mini update!

I’ve not touched anything have left it all the same.

The bath is working perfectly and heating up within like 10-20 seconds like before. The en-suite is warming up but taking like 4-5 minutes … and the ensure shower does go cold half way through then goes warm again after a minute or two..

all other taps are running cold!

Plumber has said “Ok, that now sounds more like lack of flow stops it working which makes much more sense. I enquired about the hot water flow switch and it's been ordered, it will be available to collect on Monday. It's still not 100% that but I think it's the best option.”

I am hopeful early next week we have more answers or even a fix!!!
