Hot water going cold

Also run with the valve full open and kitchen tap, when the temp is at 0 keep opening another HW tap somewhere to see if the boiler will then refire, if it does, then this might point to a faulty flow switch.

The water is so much water…

Hot tap on but running cold water only boiler is 00…

2 seconds and 19

I am going to turn the flow off now and go around testing the hot water in each room…

Update…

Turned the flow off and went around testing all the hot water taps…

No water was coming out of them…

Apart from the en-suite shower, that had cold water coming of when the temperature was set to hot - low flow, and faster flow when set to cold.

I tested the shower in the main bathroom, the hot water did not run out of here!

I have now just fully opened the flow again.. 00 on boiler with kitchen tap. I will go around and see if I can get the boiler to start by turning in other taps… hw ones

Could be this then. Is there any way to isolate the water to the shower?

Yes! The shower is probably 4 years old I will call now and see if it’s under 5 year warranty as I do not remember.

What do I say is the possible fault?

I’ve got an Ideal Logic CodeCombi ES38 boiler – should it be able to handle full-flow operation for a whole house? I’ve got a downstairs toilet, an upstairs bathroom with a bath-shower and tap, plus an ensuite with a tap and shower.

TEST 1,450

Flow fully open.

HW tap in kitchen on full = 00 on boiler
HW tap in downstairs toilet on full = 00 on boiler
HW tap in main bathroom sink on full = 00 on boiler (very fast flow!)
HW tap in bath on full = boiler kicking in (taking a long time to get HOT, lukewarm for ages - boiler did get up to 55 60 degrees, increasing snd decreasing at times)
HW main bathroom shower = boiler 00 (residual hot water coming out then ran cold)
HW tap in ensuite = boiler 00
HW shower ensuite = boiler 00

Is this helpful?

I have googled…

“The ensuite shower still runs cold water even when the boiler is off and hot flow is supposedly closed off. That shouldn’t happen. Potentially the mixer is allowing cold water to bleed into the hot supply, which disrupts the boiler.

It could be affecting other outlets too, as the system gets confused when cold is entering the hot pipework.”

I have done another FLOW test

Kitchen HW tap (boiler 00) so water is cold.

4 seconds and 50 = 900ml

Bath HW tap (boiler really slow… 2 minutes only on 25 degrees but boiler has kicked in)

3 seconds 19 = 1 litre

Ok you may be getting ahead of yourself here. This is what needs to happen by process of elimination:

Isolate the shower, ideally on the cold. Test the hit outlets to determine if it fires, I'd it does you have likely found your problem, if it doesn't then you have 2 issues, cross flow and flow sensor.

I need a plumber to come and isolate the ensuite for me yeah? No idea how to do that. I just know flow valve under boiler and the water tap under sink lol
