hot water hammer

Hi,

I've recently noticed water hammer in my hot water system whenever any hot tap is turned on. The hammer stops after a few seconds so isn't that big a problem, but now the pressure in the upstairs shower has dropped away quite dramatically to the point where we cannot use the shower any more.

The hot water system is mains pressure and all the plumbing is about a year old following a renovation.

Any ideas welcome. I've had a search but can't haven't come across any solutions yet that seem to fit.

Do you have any ball valves or inline valves that have slowly jolted closed with each an every water hammer event?
