Hi guys,

Merry Christmas!!!

A couple of days ago I turned water heating (water tank) and House heating at the same time. Ever since then, hot water in the tank heats up when the home heating is on.

I recon some automatic valve has stuck? What can I do?

Your help is much appreciated.

Thank you,

The actuator head ( white box) can be removed from the brass body easily ,as it clips on. Thus revealing the spindle in the brass body ,which should move freely several degrees. If it moves freely the body is ok, but the actuator can be replaced as a unit as it is very likely faulty.

If it is a modern contraption otherwise there may be bolts/screws to undue if I remember correctly

Thank you, the spindle in the brass, does not move freely, had to use pliers to move it.

I have changed the temperature on the hot water tank and something has happened, now I get heating on when the hot water is heating.

Am I correct to assume that the actuator is working fine, but the brass valve needs to be replaced?

Thanks,

Same as what you had before isn't it ,both heating and hot water on at the same time ??

I guess pretty much the same. But now, when the heating is on, the hot water is not heating. Whereas previously, when the heating was on the hot water tank was boiling hot. So I assume the valve has moved with the help of the actuator?

But manually moving the brass valve is hard, could not move it with my fingers.

Your last two posts are contradictory.
If you select ONLY hot water on your programmer / timer ,do the radiators heat up ?
And if you select central heating only ,does hot water cylinder heat up ?
