hot water only when cold is running

Hi

I have a very odd problem with an ocean alpha 240.

The shower upstairs from the combi is luke warm unless I turn on the cold tap on the nearby basin sink. Stopping the cold flow to the shower non-therm mixer makes no difference. no problems on the floor where the combi is.

The problem only became noticable when the temperature outside started to drop. otherwise all seems well.

Any suggestions???

try restricting the flow to the shower,remove the head and replace the hose washer with a 1/2" tap washer.the shower could be drawing too much water and the boiler can't cope you would need to measure the flow rate and the temp of the incoming water then consult the boiler literature.

Sir you are a star. Reducing the flow does indeed work. I guess that turning on the sink tap was helping by reducing the flow of water to the combi.
