my boiler has just started to be trouble when producing hot water, the temperature does not seem to be hot enough when we need to wash up or run a bath.whilst running everything seems to be working and when running a tap and i vary the temp knob the flame appears to be modulating ok and the heating is working fine, any ideas, cheers.

Mmmm. could be main heat exchanger if you say burner is modulating.
To check other post leave system until completely cold (heating) then turn on the hot water and see if the temperature in the hting flow pipe starts to rise, if so yes the wax capsule. If not then the main heat exchanger is scaled or partially blocked which is now obsolete. Of course could be anything remote diagnosis is never simple. Would always recommend approved gas safe engineer though. Try to get someone who knows faults though, not someone who is just going to throw parts at it.
