Hi

I have a conventional boiler with a hot water tank. I have 2 problems

1) the tank is full of hot water, but when we turn on the hot taps it runs cold unless we turn taps on full, after a short while the water runs hot (very hot), but if we turn the flow down the water goes cold again? This also causes issues with our mixer showers as controlling the temperature is very difficult.

2) the overflow valve from the hot water tank is constantly running and the water is hot. This means we are wasting lots of water, but also we are heating the water 1st which is a waste of energy and money. As we are on a water meter it’s double bubble as we’re paying for the water as well

a couple of people have been to it and been unable to resolve? Any help would be greatly appreciated

One or more of your mixer showers are passing water between the hot and cold inlets.
Resolved by installing non-return valves in the supply to the showers, or replacing the shower valves.
