I have an Ariston combi boiler. If I want to change a washer on a hot water tap is it sufficient just to turn the mains stopcock off under the sink or do I also need to switch the boiler off & the domestic cold water inlet valve to the boiler before I run the hot water tap dry?

Thanks for your help

Close mains and switch boiler off then.

Fit a maint valve on the tap while you're at it.

You should have an isolating tap on the cold supply on the boiler. This will turn off all hot taps but leave the cold ones working.

Thanks. I presume this is the one called "the domestic cold water inlet valve" in the boiler manual?
