Hi guys, I'm fitting Honeywell Motorised valves to the hot water pipes coming from a Rayburn oil fired cooking range (model 499K) which also heats hot water for the house. My conundrum is: Which way is open on the pipe valves themselves? Clockwise or Anti? Many thanks.

what valves are you asking about, the motorised valves or normal gate valves.

normal gate valves are clockwise to close anti clockwise to open

Many thanks glasgowas. Simple answer but nice to be sure. Regards, nickmac.

I think it would be better to say what valves, where you intend to put them, and why

It's ok. Job done. (28mm valves in place within pipework after pump.) Many thanks.

Just out of interest to whoever mentioned feeding pigs: Leyland truck wheel nuts undo to the rear. That is to say - the off side undo anti-clockwise but the near side undo clock-wise. My point? Not everything is obvious!
Many thanks glasgowas, for your polite answer to my innocent question.
nickmac.

Hey Paddy

Don't sound very safe and just asking.

Should have known you lot are used to making bombs to blowing things up.
