Hotpoint 9549 Washer Replace brushes

Can someone please help. My Aquarius washer has stopped spinning. A knowledgeable (?) mate of mine said it will be the brushes worn and said its easy to fix (!!!) Can anyone confirm his diagnosis and if correct tell me how to change these. Urgent please, washing is piling up.
