I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA31 washing machine. It seems to get stuck in a cycle, repeating the wash over and over and again. Any suggestions? Could it be the filter? I can't find any drawings about how to clean it. All help gratefully received.

It is probably not the filter but it's not a big job to check this for elimination purposes. Remove the lower rear panel and you will see a big rubber or plastic conical moulding clamped to the bottom of the drum with a jubilee clip. You will find this contains a plastic cage with a ping-pong ball in it. This can catch bits of rubbish so its worthwhile cleaning it out now and again.
