Hotpoint Fridge Freezer FFA64 Red Light of Death

Evening all,

My freezer is showing "High Temp" more and more recently. Now it's constantly on.

I've taken the cover off the back and melted a load of the ice from the evaporator. The fan is spinning.

This was about 5 hours ago and the high temp light is still on.

I've done the diagnostic reset thing and im getting the following (on the Fast Freeze button + High Temp LED)...

2 fast freeze flashes then high temp led stays on for 3 secs
3 fast freeze flashes then high temp led stays on for 3 secs
4 fast freeze flashes then high temp led stays on for 3 secs.

Any other suggestions before I throw it out and get a new one?

Cancel that! Red Light Of Death has gone overnight. Just took a while for the freezer to get back to the correct temp i suppose!

How do you do the 'diagnostic'
activity please?

Open the door
hold fast freeze
close the door switch with your other hand
release fast freeze

release fast freeze enters into the next diagnostic level on some models

each step is moved on with one of the function buttons

The last fault
The software version
The display fully populates
step 4
Step 5 compressor
step 6 baffle opens
step 7 evap fan runs etc
