hotpoint wd 420T

hi everyone
i hope someone might be able to offer some advice as i have been reading alt of these posts and there ae some very very expert people here with a mountain of knoweldge

Anyway my hotpoint wd 420 has stopped working
it starts normally but after 1-2 mins it faults
i have checked out your fault code list but what this machine does is

the main on/off light flashes rapidly continiously
the high heat light flashes steadly continiouly ihave watched it for a long time and there is no break in the flashes
the only way to switch the machine off is at the mains pressing the main on/off button has no effect
the only way in which the machine worked was when i ran the dryer prog for 30 mins thinking that the electronics/board etc had got damp and that the heat generated through the whole machine might dry it out but this did not work
i am a motorsport engineerer and have experiance of elesctronics/wiring etc
might it be this c17 capacitor

The capacitor usually looks swollen if it fails but you could unsolder it and test it for leakage. If it's not that you could send the board to EMW for repair.
