Hotpoint WMA 50

I used this machine last night and it worked perfectly. This morning I put it on again and I am having the following problem The door locked light comes on. It makes an initial fill of water at the wash stage and then goes immediately to end. It doesn't actually go through any cycle. It happens no matter what setting I use. Is it a major problem that is maybe not worth repairing. Any help much appreciated.

Check motor brushes poss worn or broken wire rubbing on front weight.

Thanks for that but no joy. The brushes are perfect and no wires are loose. Could it be the electronic panel.

Thanks for the interest rocks but have had no luck. The machine is 7 years old so I've just decided to replace.
