I'm guessing they would have their own circuit normally ?

I'd like to get an electric roller shutter on the end of my drive, perhaps with it being a roller and not large metal or wooden gates it would be lighter and the power requirement would be lower ?

Could anyone recommend a company that supplies and fits electric gates in the nottingham area ?

Just make sure you have a way of opening them if the power goes off!
A frequent entry on our fault logging system looks like: -

"Customer has lost supply, has electric gates and can't get in or out of property"

A roller door would require an archway of sorts, not just pillars.

A roller door will be rated slightly less than a pair of gates, but this should not be your consideration when choosing what you want. A cable will need to be installed either way.

You should make sure the company that installs the gates and the actuators is fully aware of the health and safety requirements applicable to automated gates. http://www.hse.gov.uk/safetybulletins/electricgates2.htm

A company director has been charged with manslaughter as a result of incorrectly installed automatic gates.
On 12 March 2013, Kristian Kearns is due to appear at Manchester City Magistrates’ Court charged with gross negligence manslaughter of six year old Semelia Campbell on 28 June 2010. She had become caught in, and was crushed by, an electric gate near her home.

A roller shutter is a bust, because it will restrict the height of vehicles that can enter your property. It will also look ridiculous.
Your own vehicles might fit, but you won't be pleased on the inevitable day when some large and heavy item is delivered on a big wagon, and they leave it on the ground at the end of your drive. Examples such as a new cast iron bath, double door fridge freezer, a conservatory, 72 inch TV, hot tub, etc.

Electric gates require very little power.
However they are expensive to install and expensive to own, since they require constant maintenance to avoid disasters of all kinds.
A proper installation will be many thousands of pounds.
