Hi

We have put linseed oil on the oak beams in a barn conversion and they have come up lovely

However the linseed oil is bleeding into the adjacent plaster and staining though the emulsion. Whats the best way to block this. Weve tried undercoat but that didnt seem to be all that effective!

Any advice please on this is welcome

I agree with dcdec.

Clean the rollers/brushes with household amonia after use. It will dissolve the shellac, otherwise bin the brushes.

BTW amonia is smelly so leave the waste outside and the amonia will evaporate off, leaving coloured water.
