many (3 for £99) verticals are made of non-washable felt type fabric that will fall to pieces if washed in a machine. If is slightly wooly, then you might try sponge and soap flakes, but not too wet.... slowly slowly.
Polyester fabrics ar often slightly shiney and a test on one vane might be worth a try BUT the edges of each vane can easly strip away. chech the ends and see if they are stitched across or just glued. many glues are often water based. Lastly the weights, chains and top holder can be cleaned with Jif (now Cif) and if all fails buy some new vanes.
