I want to add a sliding top to a dressing table that is fixed in place - so that I can create a mini desk to work on

I want the top to slide out 50cm say - enough for me to get my legs under and sit on a desk chair

I'm not sure where to to begin?

I assume the missing part is the sliding mechanism?
Is there anything off the shelf I can buy?

ALSO: I imagine I need some kind of contraption/mechanism to keep the wood in place and sliding out too much - not sure where I would start with that

Any advice would be great

Thanks

i think what you are describing is a slide out shelve as you dont want the actual top to slide across do you?? :D
