how do i program this garage door remote?

Hi. Can anyone tell me how to program this 'TELECO I-LIKE REMOTE' ?

In the manual it says to open the casing of the receiver ie the box within the garage, but thats connected to mains electric and im not an electrician and dont want an electric shock. Are the instructions correct?
