I had to make an opening in my upstairs chipboard flooring to access a leaking central heating pipe.

I have found the leak and hopefully plumber coming out to sort it tomorrow.

The question i have is can i repair just that section or do i have to replace the whole panel of the chipboard flooring ?

The section would screw into the centre as the joist is directly underneath but then there would be no support on the outer edges.

Screw a piece of wood at least 3" by 1" to the underside of the adjacent chipboard each side, leaving half of it showing. Then when you put down the new piece of chipboard you can screw it the the joist and the wood either side. Of course that is not a perfect answer but better than nothing.
