How do I wire an Extractor fan for a customer, please? (Ed.)

Wiring an extractor fan on a job today.
Customer doesn’t want a fan isolation switch just wants to convert a 2 gang into 3 gang using the additional switch to control the fan.

Run a 3 core from the switch to the fan and connected in switch as so:

Brown(perm live) in common with feeds
Black(switch live) in L1
Grey (neutral) in connector

Fan not working at all am I doing something wrong? Would I maybe have to take a 3 core from the ceiling rose down to the switch?

yes it’s a timer fan vortice is the make but can be wired to not use timer control
