how does upvc door locks

a friend of mine has a upvc front door fitted 11 years ago by anglian windows and doors, the door has a 5 point locking systems fitted for some time now, only centre lock has been working when turning key to lock door, When door is open or closed door handle will not lift to fully engange 5 point looking systems, only locking on key lock , any ideas what problem could be and cost to sort this problem out, is there any web sites which explain how locks works

try lubrication of all visiblle mechanism

if the handle pushes up with the door open perhaps one off the catches need adjusting!!!!!!

after looking again at the door, i now find handle does not fully lift up to move roller locks , only lock working is key lock

If the handle pushes all the way up when the door is open, and the rollers also fully move, then the problem is with your door dropping and it requires adjusting to make it square again. Alternatively, you can adjust the corresponding frame strike.

If this doesn't work when open, then the mechanism is faulty and requires replacing.
