how long is a moment ? I often hear this travelling " the train will arrive in a few moments " just a moment ill ask the missus :lol:
 
OED says "a very brief portion of time; an instant"

which to be fair isn't any clearer is it?
 
it's probably a small piece of time that can't be defined accurately. Some words are useful because of their lack of definition...
 
I think it depends what you are talking about myself, a moment in my lifetime i would be thinking no more than a minute or two, but a moment in the life of the universe is probably a few decades longer whereas a moment in the lifespan of an insect would probably be a couple of nano seconds. SIMPLES
