How long should I wait til I paint wallpaper?

I've just put up some woodchip wallpaper (not my choice, just patching up a wall!)
How long should I wait til it can be emulsioned?

I've just spent weeks removing emulsioned woodchip from two bedrooms. I think you deserve to be shot. Patch the wall properly, dont bodge it, you will only regret it later.

In this weather...normal temp id say over night will be ok.
