Hi

I am knocking down and moving an internal stud wall and have to obviously move plug sockets switches etc and extend the ring main.

I intend to run the cables through flexible 20mm plastic conduit. http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=A331822&ts=89884&id=11310

I would like to know how many cables I can run through 20mm conduit.

Also how close I can run them to radiator pipes.

Thanks in advance for any info

Cheers Jim

Regs suggest 45% spare capacity must be retained in any form of containment.

20mm has an internal diameter of 18mm x 3.142 = 59mm2

Not sure what cable your be using, 2.5mm TE ? If so 2 x cables max.

The warmer a cable operates the less current it can handle. Both the containment and the proximity to the radiators will have a impact.

I'd route the cable away from the pipes to avoid heat issues.

Havn't got my OSG to hand but the 45% factor does not work with conduit as you have to allow for length of run, number of bends/sets etc !

Pi x d = circumference

Pi x r2 = area

Sorry for the error
