How many halogens per switch?

MR16 is multifacited reflector 16 eights of an inch diameter.
GU 10 is a type of base.

Many GU 10s are MR16s.

True, but most MR16's are 12v, and most GU10's are 230v; so maybe one tends to categorize the difference based on the voltage.

I have not seen a ELV bulb using the GU10 base.

And do you seriously think I will list all the types of luminares what use all the lamps I listed :?:
No, but you didn't mention any type or example of luminaire. Not one.

Just accept that recessed down lights are not as bad as you wish they were.
I don't wish them to be anything - they are what they are.

Do you have any rooms totally lit up my down lights BAS?
I don't have any even partially lit up by them. Why would I? That's not what they are for.

Completely disagree. There are lots or MR 16s in 12v, GU5.3 bases. Also available in 24v GU5.3 bases. Then of course there are MR16 with GU 10 bases in both 110/120v and 220/240v.

And there are 12V MR16 GU10 lamps.

And there are MR11 GU10.

And some or all of the larger PARxx lamps can be had with GU10 bases.
