Spending more increases inflation and puts costs up, it can spiral. Bloated budgets attract waste. Any business knows that sometimes the strategy of cutting something results in the business finding a better way.

Lower taxes encourages investment and growth. Increasing the size of the state leads to armies of people looking for useful things to do.
