I need to reslate and upgrade my roof. How much is Spanish slate per square metre and cost?

I think it depends on size, and the overlap, which in turn depends on the pitch.
If you approach a supplier with those details, I'm sure they'd be pleased to give you a quote.

The most common size is 500x250 and takes 19 slates per sqm assuming a 75mm lap.

They will cost about £1.20 each for a reasonable quality slate.

In the UK, Spanish slate would last as long as Manuel at Downtown Abbey

Spanish slates are not as durable as Welsh slates and will not lay as flat as Welsh, but if installed by a decent slater they will last for about 50 years and they cost about a quarter the price of a Welsh slate.
Do not get tempted to buy a chinese slate

50 years? Half that would be going some, but within a few years the roof will probably look like a rusting old SEAT, due to the high iron pryrite content.

Are you sure you can put anything you want on your roof? I would have thought Burlington slate would have been more in keeping with Cumbria. I find it a bit depressing that there is a market for dragging stone half way round the globe inferior stone at that!
