how many sockets on a ring main?

I've been told by an electrician many years ago, that you can have as many 13amp sockets on a ring main as you want, providing each sockets load does not exceed 13amps. Is this still the case?

you can have any number of sockets but the total floor space served must not exceed 100m2. which in a house is unlikely
