I'm not going to be doing it myself, as I don't know anything about building work, so I'm going to be looking for quotes in the near future, but wanted to get a rough idea of how much from the experts here.

My kitchen has old cupboard spaces and an old chimney/cooker section which I want removing.

There's half a chimney extended into the loft area, but the top part was removed sometime ago, so there's no chimney going through the roof itself.

It's a fair amount of brick work to remove and I'd assume it'd need some form of steel girder/lintel? to support the roof if the walls of the old cupboards were removed, I'm not sure. (hence me asking here heh)

I've attached pictures to show what I want removing including the floor plan of our house.

The part marked "A" is the chimney/flue section

The depth of the brick work is 26 inches, so it takes up a fair amount of space in the kitchen.

Let me know what you think.

You really need to get an expert in to see things. There are far to many assumptions to make over a forum posting. Roughly it could be anything from 500 to 5000 or more. The wide range goes from the simplest job leaving you with a pile of rubble to dispose of, to one requiring all sorts of structural work, services alterations etc.

One way to start would be to ask a recommended builder to come and actually look at it and give you a quote. If you are lucky he/she may even offer some free advice.
