How much mortar will I need?

Evening all.

I'm about to have a stab at laying a limestone patio this weekend; just over 15 square metres.

All the hardcore is in place, and compacted. But how do I work out how much mortar I'll need to make up. And what should the mix be? Someone told me: -

2 cement
2 building sand
12 sharp sand

Don't want to be a scruff and be left with a dumpy bag on the front lawn! but also want enough to do the job!

How do you intend laying the slabs? On a full mortar bed or on a screeded sand bed?

If the former, use a mix of 3 sharp, 1 building and 1 cement mortar,wet, like laying bricks.

If the latter, don't.
