I am am a bit bewildered by all the tips I've seen online so wondered if someone could say what the best things to use are?
I have prepared my patio area, compacted in MOT type 1 subase and it is all level. I now have to lay my 3.6m cicular patio kit (sandstone).
From what I have gathered, I'm should use a 5-1 cement and sharp sand mixture. And a patio tile primer.
My query is really - do you spread the primer on the tile and let it dry before you lay it? How long does that take? Guess I need to cover them all and let them dry before I start laying them all?
And do I need a cement plastisizer?
And would it be easier/better to use Blue Circle MasterLay (premixed, just add water) instead of a standard cement mix?
Just some extra info as to why I'm doing it this way: The patio is at the bottom of the garden, we have no side access from the front of the house so I have to carry bags through. I did not do a sand layer over the hardcore because we can't manage barroing another 2 dumpy bags of sand through the house, down the decking and down to the garden. I'm hoping that a good thick cement layer will be enough to bridge any slightly uneven bits of hardcore (but I have made it pretty much level and smooth beforehand)
I've only got a flexi bucket and mortar mixer drill attachment to mix.
