Hi,
Ive just got rid of my garden pond and am left with a 5ft deep hole in my lawn! I need some filler soil/rubble etc (approx 3 or 4 ton?)before adding top soil. I have had one guy come round to look at it and he said he could let me have some filler soil (i.e rubbish) but that it will cost me £80 delivered. Am I being ripped off here or does that sound about right? Im a single lady so Im probably a prime candidate to be ripped off, no one else to ask so thought I'd ask here first. Thanks in advance.

Depends how big the hole is? you can find calculators online to estimate required quantity. You need rubble or Type 1 [general foundation material] rubble should be broken up small or the top soil will fall/ flush thru when it rains.

There must be loads of builder types that would love to dump a few tipper loads of spoil in your hole for free or even pay you for the privilege.
