yes isolate the shower supplies.
undo the two nuts and remove the grub screw on the centre fixing.

you'll be lucky under £100.

Ok, thanks.
Forgetting the price for a moment, how do I get the right one to fit?
Just get any surface mounted one with 15mm connections that are 150mm apart?

yes long as the centres are the same which 150mm is common size.
check it's compatible with your system aswell.

except bar mixers as your pipework would have to be altered.

Any particular reason why you want to replace it? Those 88's IMHO will still outlast any cheap shower you buy now. Replace the seals in the 88 when required and it'll go on for ages.

Cant say if it'll fit sadly, but in terms of quality, I've got a Triton 'Altair' bar mixer in my bathroom. The only real issue I've had with it has been the filters on the inlets clogging up. Removed them in the end, and not had a problem since. If your budget wont stretch to a Mira, then the Triton will do the job. Not sure on spares availability though, not needed any so far.
