queen were never my favorite band but have to agree with the both of you
they were an outstanding live band at best of times but they totally took live aid

I was there, about 45 rows deep from the stage that day.
Great time had by all.
 
cor i remember live aid,i was respraying my sports (50cc)motor bike in my mums front garden,i had her 14"portable tele set up in the corner,with my tape recorder/radio,1 of those big jobbies,blasting out,iirc it was a bloody hot day aswell.

i also thought that status quo were rather good that day aswell.

i don't agree it was the best live performance ever, because ballet fans will have theirs, Zep fans will cite many a madison square gardens gig etc... but i know what you mean, FM (not his twin btw !!!) was in that top set of live performers... what a showman. And incredible to look at his upbringing, shy, half white, half indian.... a true legend...
