OK just had one fitted and it doesn't look right, opening the window standing from outside the top is not inline / parallel to ridge tiles above, is that a good indicator, how do I check as it doesn't look right.

Resting a level on the top of the sill lowest part of frame above flashing also shows not level.

TIA

The spirit level is a better indicator than ridge tiles, they may not be level.

Any photos you could post?

You don't 'level' a Velux, rather you try and orientate the widow so that it looks square with the room below and the roof above.

The window itself is plonked flat onto the roofing battens and is fixed through them. There is no levelling procedure.

There are lugs that locate the Velux onto a dedicated bottom batten. It is up to the installer to get this bottom batten square with whatever is viewed as the most conspicuous, I.e. Outside or inside view or both.

Once you have the Velux seated (and prior to actually fixing it down) it makes sense to go inside and do a wee bit of measuring. You would then have another look at how it is is orientated with the roofing tile battens, then proceed to fix it permanently.

Some roofers just plonk it on and crack on, 'cause that is what they are paid to do. Not a dig but a fact of life. Folks will not pay for quality. They want quick and they want cheap. Ho hum.

Does the velux look square to the fascia board, measure it on both corners to the overhang of the tiles if the measurements are the same, give or take a few mm, then the ridge is out of square to the fascia. Not necessarily the velux is out of square.
