Hi,

I've got two cables running from my telephone master to an extension socket I've installed elsewhere in the house. The cables were buried into the ceilings etc. at the time of the extension. The reason for two cables was that I noticed that one of them was damaged. For the life of me, I cant remember if I ever connected the "good" cable or whether I am still running on the "bad" cable. I've now started to experience drops in my internet connectivity and wonder if that's what it is down to.

If I plug my router into the Master, I don't have any issues.

I could try switching to the other cable but was wondering if there is a robust way to check the state of the cable rather than trial and error.

Thanks in advance.

Something like a 9083 meter really.

You might be able to improvise with a volt meter.

I've not used either of those...
Any pointers as to what's required in this situation?
