how to clean concrete for installation of clear sealer

hi
can anyone help.

i have a concrete sub floor that has carpet adhered to it with some kind of adhesive. i want to remove the carpet and eventually finishe the concrete with a clear satin sealer. how do i remove the adhesive? is this more hassle than its worth? what are the other options? resurface? new screed topping?
